What is Halotherapy?

Halotherapy, derived from the greek work “Halos” meaning salt, is also known as salt therapy. It involves the inhaling of minute salt particles as a natural therapy for ailments.

The first therapeutic recorded use of a salt cave started in 1843 in Wieliczka, Poland where a local physician started to notice that miners in the cave showed significantly decreased levels of respiratory illnesses. Salt has long been known for its numerous benefits, including releasing negative ions that can help with an overall sense of wellbeing and relaxation.

Here at Kokoro, we use a halogenerator to grind pharma-grade sodium chloride (NaCl) into micro-sized particles and release them into our cave. Our two water cascades also help provide a salty, humid environment as well.

What to expect during my session?

Our salt cave is a quiet-zone, except for dedicated children hours. During your session, you will relax in one of our zero-gravity chairs, with a blanket. You’ll be able to sit back, listen to the soft sound of the water cascading.. You will start to taste some salt on your lips, that’s a good thing! (*Note, not everyone can taste the salt, that’s ok too!)

*Please note that shoes are not allowed in the salt cave. We have a shoe rack and will provide you with slippers.

Are children allowed in the salt cave?

The salt cave is a quiet-zone, which means that young children should only come during dedicated kid hours. If your child is able to sit in a chair for an hour quietly, they are more than welcome to come during other session times.
